Greetings and welcome to the October 2009 newsletter! In these last couple of months there seems to have been an increasing amount of activity amongst friends of ’1421′ and ’1434′ which we are very encouraged to see. We are pleased to help them promote their work, as it further supports ours!
Gavin Menzies
This month sees Gavin and Marcella off on their travels again. They will be visiting various locations in India, China, the USA and Canada. Gavin will be talking at Concordia High School, Shanghai, on 15th October, as well as participating in several interviews and book signings along the way.
Paul Chiasson
We are pleased to announce that Paul Chiasson’s book “The Island of Seven Cities” was published in mainland China recently by SDX Joint Publishing Company. We offer Paul our congratulations! We are also pleased to say that a television documentary on the subject is now in production.
Liu Gang
Liu Gang’s new book, The Ancient Map Code – Mystery of Ancient Chinese Exploration (Chinese version) is due for publication in November. The book provides a new interpretation of the early voyages of Chinese explorers and also untangles profound mysteries: what was the motivating force behind Chinese world exploration, and how did they manage to succeed when it took so many so much longer? Tan Ta Sen
We are pleased to announce the publication of Dr. Tan Ta Sen’s new book, Cheng Ho and Islam in Southeast Asia.
In the words of Professor Leo Suryadinata Director, Chinese Heritage Centre (Singapore) “…Tan Ta Sen’s book on Cheng Ho and Islam in Southeast Asia is not the first one on the subject, but it is the first book that puts Cheng Ho’s voyages in the larger context of “culture contact” in China and beyond. He has garnered numerous sources, from published documents to architectural sites and buildings, to support his arguments. He has done much more than previous scholars writing on this subject…”
Gunnar Thompson
Gunnar will speak at the Internet Atlantic Conference on Saturday, October 10th, starting at 9 AM Eastern Time in the USA. His topic will be “Ancient Egyptian Maize” with an introduction on turkeys and Turkey Corn in the British Isles. The Egyptian maize he has found dates to 4000 BC; and it follows introduction via Minoan Crete and the Middle East circa 5000 BC. It now appears that maize, or Indian corn, was a major crop in Babylon, Egypt, Greece, and Rome. This is a major breakthrough as all the traditional historians have claimed for the past century that there was no maize in Egypt until after Columbus. The Conference will have a chat room and a telephone call in service so Gunnar can answer questions. His presentation is already on the www.atlanticconference.org web site.
Gunnar is placing all of his old books (with revisions) on the www.lulu.com print-on-demand service. They will be available in hardback editions costing less (in most cases) than the original paperback version. He also has a new book available through lulu called “Ancient Egyptian Maize.”

John H. Ruskamp & John A. Ruskamp Jr.
A few months back we were sent an interesting paper by John H. Ruskamp and John A. Ruskamp Jr. They had written it completely independently of our research, and were surprised to find others in agreement with their theory. In this study the elements of an ancient petroglyph found in the Northwestern Mojave Desert are
compared with two similar Native American glyphs located hundreds of miles apart in Utah. All three of these glyphs are collectively compared with the modern form of the Chinese ideograph for a boat, Zhou. In addition, two other glyphs that resemble an older form of the Zhou ideograph are considered. The report establishes the proper interpretation of all five of these petroglyphs as depictions of a boat.
