The original Friday the 13th was a runaway hit. So when the trailers of the new version hit the screens people were already curious. The fans of blood and gore had some real high expectations. The new version of Friday the 13th is actually a rehash of the original movie. The opening sequence shows Jason Voorhees’ mother torturing the campers who killed her son. The rest of the film is a bit of dj vu. Jason attacks all the campers in a gruesome manner and blood flows at will. If you are a big fan of horror genre then you are in for some real feast from now on. Anyway, the story moves forward. After waiting for six weeks, Clay Miller decides to come to Crystal Lake in search of her missing sister and once he reaches there he encounters a group of college kids who has gone there to spend the weekend in a cabin near the lake.

The story of all the versions of Friday the 13th is quite simple. People are shown going to the woods adjoining the Crystal Lake and they get killed in a barbaric way. You might feel that the series has a one-track story. But I don’t expect people thronging the theaters for watching an award winning story or any emotional scenes. Jason is shown killing people around with a machete in the earlier versions. But he gets himself promoted in this flick. He is using bear traps, bow and arrow, ice pick, an axe and well, anything that is sharp actually.

The film will be a huge hit with teenagers as it has a good deal of violence, sex scenes and chases. But these are all what makes a good bloody horror film. Performances of the leads are pretty ordinary throughout except perhaps Jared Padalecki who plays the brother’s part. He does justice to his role and let’s hope that he gets some good offers after this. He has the potential to make it big.

My suggestion you would be – watch this movie at home and save your precious green currency. The film deserves a single watch, at least. The season2 of Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles is already over and has been quite interesting for the viewers. Before the season there was this doubt in the mind of the viewers that would never be able to see conclusion of the show because there were too many characters coming before the season finale it seemed highly unlikely that there would justify the newer inclusions in the end.

As the show approached its finale, episodes were busy full of plot developments, revelations, actions and twists that all came crashing together into a game changing final scene. And what was keeping all the characters in the show? I simply don’t understand. There wasn’t even a single character death unless of course you count Cameron which would be inaccurate. I mean what were they thinking? And what would you call Derek’s inclusion into the show, although I still enjoyed the sexy and romantic scenes between john and Cameron which wasn’t exactly a hardcore romance but a creepy kind of indulgence.

Even then the final sequence of “Born To Run” is quite bemusing for me. I mean, why didn’t Sarah stay with John? She says,” I will stop it John”-but somehow she is not doing anything. Derek’s comeback is not unusual.”Time Travel” is quite the theme of the series. So it is understandable. Kyle also made a similar comeback 4 years after being declared dead on the show. I hope they wouldn’t have included Brain Austin Green’s name in the opening credits because this way you can very easily predict the events in the upcoming episodes.

The grand finale was simply outstanding breaking the beliefs of overloaded characterizations and bringing together a lot of elements in the show which were long overdue just managing to breathe life in the end. Overall a complex and an engaging show with big time drama and actions, although TV ratings don’t quite support that.

May be, having a established franchise is more important than spending a fortune on developing a newer one which may or may not work. Especially on weekends. What else can we do other than watching show on air or may be downloading it? A few us would even gossip about the third season anticipating more entertaining episodes.

Coming back to “Born To Run” episode. Catherine weaver tries to protect her daughter against the attack of the terminator. Then apparently a hunter killer flying drone sent by Al (John’s supposed brother) launches an attack on Catherine making her reveal her identity to Sarah, John and Ellison. Ellison is seemingly unperturbed by the development.

One interesting moment of the episode is when Mr. Ellison delivers the massage of “will you join us” to Cameron. She gives a very emotional response which is even appreciated by John. Clearly a lot of terminators in the show weaver being the most advanced model of them all and only he can save the world along with John.
