Depending on who you will listen to, 2012, more specifically the winter solstice of 2012 which falls on December 21, could usher in either a series of disasters or the dawn of a new era. Included in the predicted disasters is the highly debatable December 2012 polar shift.
The End Of The World As We Know It Based The Mayan Calendar
December 21, 2012 has always been a special date for the Mayas. The Mayas developed and used a very precise calendar, called the Long Calendar, that spans thousands of years, 5,126 years to be exact. The cycle of the calendar began on Day Zero on August 11, 3114 B.C. which precedes the civilization’s beginnings.
Touted for the accuracy of the Mayan’s Long Calendar, scientists, researchers, prophetic aficionados and astrologers alike ushered a new belief that the world will end when the Long Calendar ends. At the verge of the end of the world, mankind is now forced, more than ever, to face the possibilities of a cataclysmic future that is set to end or begin on December 21, 2012.
But no one really knows what will happen when this date hits. The Mayas have no known record that explains in detail what had happened in the past or what will happen in the future. Strong believers of doomsday events, however, believe that mankind and his civilization will end along with the Long Calendar.
The Predictions Of The Bible Code
It is said explicitly in the Book of Revelations, the final book of the Bible, that no one, Except the Father, knows the time of the Second Coming. This does not stop researchers though from getting clues as to the timing of the end of the world or the second coming of Christ from the Holy Bible.
The author of the book, The Bible Code, Michael Drosnin believes he holds the answer. He was able to decode with the help of mathematics that between the years 2010 and 2012, comets will be pouring down on Earth. This is not a surprising finding, after all, several accounts in the Book of Revelations have mentioned exactly these events.
The End Of The World As Nostradamus Foresaw
Several hundred years after he died, Nostradamus and his predictions are still being cited. Whether it’s the accuracy of his predictions or the coincidence of his prophecies with actual events that caused the revival of interest on his prophecies, that’s still up for debate. What is clear however us that several hundred years after he wrote his prophecies, these are still fuelling much interest.
To the disappointment of numerous fanatics of wend of the world theories, the great seer did not prophecy about the date when the world will end. However, it is argued that these will coincide with the end of the Mayan Long Calendar on December 21, 2012.
Time alone can tell whether the December 2012 polar shift and other apocalyptic events will truly turn the world upside down on December 21, 2012 or not, or whether the year that is being waited with much fear and fascination will be just like any other year.
Will December 21, 2012 usher in a new beginning for mankind or will it end the world as we know it? Find out more about cataclysmic events like December 2012 polar shift and others by checking out my website.
