Could Betelguese Supernova and 2012 End of the world are related?

Could Betelguese Supernova and 2012 end of the world, related? Do you think that Betelguese has already gone supernova and we could see it in 2012? is there going to be end or a new beginning in 2012?

In a word no.

Betelguese is 175 +/- 28 light years distant from earth. The shock wave would not travel at the speed of light. Thus, Betelguese would have had gone to supernova well more than 175 years ago in order for the shock wave to strike us in 2012. Even if there were a possibility that it produced a lethal gamma ray burst directed right at us, we wouldn't know it until about 15 minutes before we were all wiped out. Comforting, eh?

I wouldn't worry about it though. The end of 2012 will bring a new beginning with the emergence of 2013! I'm surprised the 2012 doomsdayers aren't climbing all over that one! one year of perennial (pun intended) bad luck!

All the ideas, without any exceptions, that something is going to happen in 2012 are based on superstition and lies. It is entirely nonsense.

There are many supposed causes of things in 2012, stray planets, Mayan calendars, planetary alignments, galactic alignments, asteroids, aliens, you name it. if there was any reality to this there would be only one cause. It's a pretty strong indication that the fools and frauds can't get their delusions and lies straight. See the 2012hoax site.

There are not lots of cultures and religions predicting this, there is only one, the modern western culture of money grubbing fraud and superstitious "new Age" baloney. In short, there is no basis to believe anything much will happens in 2012 at all.

It's all based on a special misreading of a half-fact about the Mayan long count of days, which is due to click over on 21 or 23 December 2012 to the next set of baktuns. This was first written about by an astrologer, a former LSD user who claims to be a reincarnated priest, by the name of Jose Arguelles. Nobody took much notice at first, he is just one loony among many. But he just said there would be a big change then.

Other people have jumped on the bandwagon including some who claim to be Christians, other woo-woos and just plain frauds who have recycled the stuff the same sort of people were gabbling about in the 1990s for the supposed end of the world in 1999-2000. Supposed Bible codes and prophecies, Nostradamus etc. all of it known to be fraudulent or superstitious nonsense for decades before that.

The only things that will happen in 2012 are like the Olympic Games, the US elections and the sort of things that happen any year.

All this is intended to sell worthless junk and stupid movies to people who can't see it is garbage.

No one can predict(with the current technology) when Betelgeuse will blow and we can't be sure that it did blow already. 2012 will just be another normal year. Don't believe in 2012 hoaxes. Even if Betelgeuse goes supernova or we can see Betelgeuse supernova in 2012, it will just be a coincidence.

No one can predict when Betelgeuse will explode and since it is 640 light-years from the earth, we are basically looking 640 years back in time, it could have already exploded but the light didn't reach us yet.

There is no proof that the earth will be destroyed in 2012 and there is absolutely no evidence that Betelgeuse has anything to do with it xD

This is really unfair to Eta Carinae, Gamma Velorum and Antares. just because Betelgeuse is more popular doesn't mean it's gonna blow up first. and I don't really get the sense on connecting 2012 with Betelgeuse. People are getting a lot weirder and more stupid.

Another thing, I really believe that someone is trolling here. Why do 2012 questions come at the same time and in the same trend. They all come with one particular asker and then 3 other Caucasian names but roughly the same grammar as the "peculiar one". their accounts are all new, too. Trolls really are stupid, you can read through them.

Betelguese sure could supernova in 2012, although I don't think its likely. Even if it did, all we would get here, 640 light years away, would be a spectacular light show. A supernova would need to occur within about 25 light years to be disastrous for us.

Nothing extraordinary will happen in 2012. you want proof? Read this page:

http://www.2012hoax.org

I highly doubt that the two are related because even though Betelgeuse is 600+ light years away scientists should still be able to predict a time for its supernova. interesting thought……

Supernovae 600 light years away don't cuase fake doomsdays.

Could Betelguese Supernova and 2012 End of the world are related?

Armageddon is nigh, but if you've got a spare $10K, Vivos will help you live through it

  • End of days before 2012?
  • US company offers protection
  • would consider Australian shelters

THERE'S no shortage of wild-eyed alarmists running around with their watches set to Mayan time insisting that the end of the world is nigh.

But unfortunately for one dealer of extinction-proof shelters in the US, that’s not converting to sales.

Robert Vicino says there’s any number of ways in which humanity could be wiped out by the end of 2012 and has set up a company, Vivos, expressly aimed at helping those willing to pay to survive it.

Inside the Vivos Armagedoon-proof bunker

"the soil of the Earth itself can provide the best shelter for most catastrophes, including a pole shift, super volcano eruptions, solar flares, earthquakes, asteroids, tsunamis, nuclear attack, bio terrorism, chemical warfare and even widespread social anarchy," Vivos states on its website.

The answer, mr Vicino tells www.news.com.au, is underground bunkers.

The expensive ones hold up to 250 people and give them some 50 square metres of personal space each.

They start at $US25,000 a share, but with time running out, mr Vicino is offering a discount option.

If you’ve got $US10,000 to spare, you’re guaranteed at least six months’ safety in a less-cosy, yet just as Armageddon-proof, 30,000 square metre bunker, shared with 1000 people.

"what was previously perceived by many to be a survival solution only for the ‘elite’, is now affordable to virtually anyone wanting a ‘boarding pass’ into an impervious Vivos shelter to survive Armageddon, or whatever cataclysms may be ahead for our planet," he says.

Mr Vicino said about 10,000 shares in various bunkers had already been sold and that the cheaper option doesn’t mean you’ll be more at risk.

"Just shorter duration of supply for guaranteed autonomous sheltering before you need to return to the surface," he told www.news.com.au.

But with the shelters based in the central United States, when will you know it’s time to make the trip and start your six- or 12-month stay?

Mr Vicino’s first goal is to have one bunker open in time for the when the inbound Comet Elenin threatens Earth in the US autumn.

But he told news.com.au members can come in "whenever there is an emergency need to do so".

"They own their respective shelter and can go there whenever a catastrophic risk is predicted, happening or in the aftermath. "They just can’t live or stay there for other personal reasons."

He offered these guidelines for various scenarios:

  • Comet Elenin – "We will have weeks to months of notice if it is going to have an impact on Earth."
  • Terrorism threats – "if the threat is real or specific to the area; or, if something happens in another area (e.g. dirty bomb in NYC), then it would be a good time to head to the shelter."
  • EMP – "that will likely come without notice, but you will have time to get to the shelter before society breaks down (3 to 7 days later)."
  • Solar flares – "same as EMP, but the solar activity can be monitored and will give warnings."
  • Tsunami – "Typically a result of one of the above issues. Again, there should be warnings."

But he said it was important to remember that "nothing happens unexpectedly".

"Everything has an indication. We just have to observe the connections," he said.

"We will send out an alert, but they don’t have to wait if the threat is already known."

Vivos hopes to have a dozen shelters available all up, able to accommodate 6000 people – roughly one for every million on Earth.

He said two shelters were in their final stages and three more in the works.

As for the psychological implications of housing 1000 strangers underground for at least six months, mr Vicino told www.news.com.au that they were "better than trying to survive on the surface".

"if we are locked down in the shelter there is a reason for it," he said.

"We have psychiatrists, doctors, surgeons, nurses and medical experts (actual members) within each shelter to make the best of it."

And in case you were wondering, mr Vicino believes the most likely end-of-days scenario will come from a solar flare.

And yes, he’d consider versions in Australia.

"if we get a critical mass of members – ready, willing and able to purchase their share(s) in a shelter," he said.
