The Bible mentions nothing about the year 2102. upon examining all the end times prophecies it looks like life in this world is about to get real nasty. that would mean things are going to be even worse by the end of 2012. But the entire course of events will take seven years to play out, so 2012 will be a cake walk compared to what's to come.

Of course none of this will affect the believer since God has promised to keep us from the time and place of His coming wrath. We'll spend those seven years in heaven at the wedding feast of the Lamb and then we'll receive our crowns at the Bema Seat Judgement. Finally, we'll accompany Jesus when he returns in glory. For us, it's all good.

It doesn't concern me. 2012 doesn't fit into the rapture at all. the 2012 theory is Myan, not Christian. No man knows when the end of days will come, and if man makes those claims they are a fraud.

I am so fed up of all the rubbish about 2012. the Rapture will NOT happen then. I do not know when it will happen, but all the biblical prophesies regarding the end Times have not been fulfilled yet, and will not be by 2012

Were people this crazy over thinking the Year 2000 would be the end of the world? or what about the year 6 – 6 – 06 ? what are your thoughts and opinions on the year 2012?

It's just another thing to freak people out about. they say it's some sort of giant rock that's gonna kill all life on earth called planet x but all of the info on it is so faulty.

2012 isn't the end because I firmly believe what the bible says is true. "the end will come like a thief in the night" meaning no one will know when the end will come.

Actually, the Bible, Qu'ran, and the Mayan religion say nothing about end times in 2012. not that it would matter what their fantasy was. And science doesn't say there's going to be an end times in 2012 either. Just because a lot of people fall for a scary conspiracy theory doesn't make it true.

Has anyone noticed that some Christians get a little too gleeful when they talk about the end of times? they get downright giddy when they talk about all of the suffering that nonbelievers will endure. why do you think this is?

What Christians have you been talking to? I hope you know picketers don't count.
These so – called Christians you've been talking to are probably just too lazy to to do what the Bible really asks them to do and just want things to be convenient for them.
if they smile at another person's suffering then they do not know love, and in not knowing love, they do not know God. I apologize for these poor representations of my religion.

The end of the old way things were done for a new and better beginning . . . unfortunately the digital "transition" screwed alot of things up . . . When properties and people were divided and used as dumping grounds . . . nothing but wickedness and selfishness inspired them and now a few seem to have to pay a cost for many! Where's God for impartiality?

Well, the first thing to realize is the Mayan calendar doesn't say the world will end in December 2012.
The Long Count calendar is made of cycles – Dec 21 2012 is the end of one cycle (called a bak'tun) and the start of a new cycle (scholars have calculated the calendar out to about year 4772 with no sign of the end).

So, since that "prediction" is false, lets look at some of the others that are floating around:
– Planet X/Nibiru is supposed to hit us (but… it doesn't even exist).
– Pole shifts are supposed to destroy the magnetic field (but… pole shifts take thousands of years to happen, not a few years).
– The sun is supposed to align with the galactic plane (but… that happens every December, why would it be a problem in 2012?)
– The planets are all supposed to align (but… that can't happen ever, its not likely it will happen in 2012).

Its a hoax that started in 2003 – I am surprised that some people still don’t get that.

There is no Mayan "calendar" here. there is however a count of days that is supposed to fill up a "baktun" about 2012, probably in December 2012 but it could be years either side. We are not sure exactly when the count started. it appears to have been in August 3114BC by our system but it might have been earlier or later. in other words, the last day of the baktun (which is 144000 days long) might have passed and we didn't notice.

There is no prophecy of the EOTW or any "spiritual change" from the Mayans. anyone who claims that there is is a plain liar, fool or fraud. And there is no prophecy from any other culture, ancient or modern about 2012, except the fraudulent and sub-criminal recent one from confidence tricksters in our culture. Not at all embarrassed. the bible says that no-one but the Father knows when that day will be. It could be tomorrow or in several hundred years time. if it happens on the set date in 2012 which so many seem to wish to discuss these days we won't be here crowing about it anyway because the end will have come. however, if 2012 comes and goes and we are still using this site in 2013 that will be one topic of conversation which we will probably not have on here again. Yippeeeeeeee!

Also, God has had contact with all people's, for sure. He was with Ishmael, ancestor of the muslims during his youth.
In Ezekiel God charged that other nations had lived more pleasing lives than his chosen people (the Israelites) had. He was furious and had given Ezekiel a dramatic word vision of himself in His glory. This type of vision (God on throne) is associated with devine judgment.
Jesus also said God does good for the saved and the sinner. BUT the Bible states Jesus will return like a thief in the night. It's not something you can ear mark on the calander.

Before I start, I believe in Evolution and that there is no God. But…..
….I can't help but think the End might be coming, in front of our very eyes. you see, it all started when i heard the Nostradamus predicted the End of The World at the Millennium. Obviously it didn't happen. But..I then heard that when Nostradamus was around – 500+ years ago – the calendar only had 10 months in it. January and February were added later. thats why, such as October being the 10th month. You'd normally associate 'oct' with 8 not 10. because it was the eighth month. I figured that maybe that could have put Nostradamus out if whack by about 12 years. then I heard about the Bible saying that a Holy War (A war in the Holy Land – Israel) will bring about Armageddon. then I heard about the Mayan Prophecy in 2012. then I thought Kim Jong-Il was going to start the proceedings with his Nuke Bombs. I wonder now, if its all going to happen in the Middle East. If the current 'Democratic Revolution' thats happened in Tunisia and now Egypt spreads towards Israel, the whole of the Middle East will de-stabilise. Egypt has a massive hand in the very existence if Israel. If it falls, so will we. Eventually.

No, there are lots of other people, casting around for random events to support their desire to see an apocalyptic end-of-the-world happen in their lifetime. The "prophecies" of Nostradamus have been twisted and stretched so far out of shape that they mean virtually anything now. The reason the year only had "ten months" was that no one bothered to schedule anything in the middle of winter, so January and February existed, but no one paid much attention to them. Kim Jong Il has not actually been able to start a war despite his efforts. as for Tunisia and Egypt, they have been under the control of totalitarian dictators for decades and the people are tired of them. Egypt is NOT "the Holy Land". Obviously you are grasping at straws to keep your violent dream alive. it will never happen, but that doesn't mean that you won't continue to see more "signs" in every political uprising or natural disaster that comes along.

Okay well you have two options here friend:

Option one:

Realize that Nostradamus' "predictions" were so broad and general they could have been about anything. Also realize that the bible is the same book that claims that the whole earth was flooded and one geriatric and his family managed to save all of the species on earth by putting them on a boat, and is therefore nonsense. Also realize that people have been predicting the end of the earth for millenia: they have been wrong. in fact Matthew seems to indicate that Jesus' supposed second coming would have happened in his lifetime. Matthew 24:34 says "Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened."

Option two:

Freak out for no reason and sell all your material possessions to me (ultra cheap of course) to buy weapons and a fall-out shelter.

Personally, I would benefit more if you chose option two.

As a side note: if the destruction of man and the planet does occur within 10 generations (about 300 years) it will be caused by man itself, not some imaginary deity.

If you think, why so much trouble and pain in this world…? then there is only one reason, without pain, no pleasure and without pleasure, no pain. So without them, we cannot enjoy this life so always we need them in our development towards the perfection of God. So-so you use pain and pleasure instead of pain and pleasure use you. I mean the vision of your future should be clear & it have to pull you rather than you have to push so you must link a lot of pleasure in order to succeed in the best job. when you feel strong enough link a lot of pleasure in your subconscious mind. And your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.

It is not only Christians who have heard this Mayan prediction of the world ending in 2012. but do not be scared. I assure you that the world will not end on 2012 December 21 but it will end one day. Nostradamus’ prediction of when the earth will end is far into the future, past about 3700. He still has many prophecies that are not fulfilled yet. Remember that if there is a beginning, there is an end.

The Mayan’s Mesoamerican Long Count calendar forms the basis for a new Age belief, first forecast by Jose Arguelles, that a cataclysm will take place on or about 2012 December 21 (Wikipedia). it will be the end of a Mayan calendar cycle to start a new cycle.

In the book of Revelation, it tells us about a period of a thousand years of peace. has this occurred already since the time of Jesus? Not yet. That will still come. those that give predictions of the world’s end, such as 2012 and numerous times during the past, are pseudo-preachers. have they talked to God directly? If so, give proofs.

I'm trying to do some research about the end times. I have been reading about the galactic alignment which is supposed to occur in december 2012, and im not sure what exactly I should think or believe. I looked up scriptures from the Bible, and one in particular is always on my mind when I am wondering about the end times; "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." (Matthew 26:34)

That scripture makes me think that it would be impossible that the galactic alignment in 2012 would be the end of time, because it says nobody knows about that day or hour!

So if anybody has any information or opinion on the matter, please share!

If you are a Christian then the verse, "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." is what you should believe because that's what GOD intended the answer to be for those searching for the end times…..Scientists, (some) when determining scientific events, both past and present and usually accentuate that most of their findings are factual rather than theorized, it that is a word, find that the scriptual version of what is the end of times is not fact based and therefore should not be told as fact. I don't personally disbelieve in anything Scientific, in fact or theory but God will always be my FIRST choice when looking for any answer that is scriptual.

When Jesus said that not even the son knew the day or the hour do you think that maybe when he got to be at the right hand side of the Father he was maybe privy to a bit more info so to speak. Behold the heavens declare his glory, and how did the Magi know roughly where to go. what are we told to watch and pray for ? what about wormwood? I dont know it is all very confusing I suppose.

I agree with you. 2012 comes from the ending of the Mayan calendar, which marks the ending of an "age." do some research on the Mayan calendar. I think something very cataclysmic will happen on Dec. 22, 2012, but no, I don't think the world will end.

galactic alignment? come on every single year, the earth and sun are aligned with the centre of the universe. the earth rotates around the sun and one day every year you can draw a straight line from sun-> earth->centre of universe.

There is not going to be an "end of times"…. at least not the way you think…. (lets hope;)

There will be no galactic alignment. the orbit of the Earth around the Sun is tilted with respect to the line between the Sun and the centre of the galaxy. This means the Sun, Earth and the centre cannot line up.

The closest they get happens to be about the times of the solstices, which are on 21 June and 21 December every year. yes, twice every year. the difference from a perfect line is close to 6 degrees.

Now the centre of the galaxy is so far away that it's effect on the Earth is quite small, even though it may be the equivalent of millions of Suns in mass. the gravitational pull between two objects is proportional to the product of their masses divided by the SQUARE of the distance between them. Compared to that of the Sun, the effect of the galactic centre is minuscule. Compared to that of the Moon, which is biggish and quite close, it is a belch in a hurricane.

Now get out your trigonometry tables and look up the sine of 6 degrees. does not amount to much, does it? If we don't notice anything when the gravitational pull is 6 degrees off an exactly straight line, we would not notice anything if it was exactly straight either.

So tales of disaster from galactic centres are all hooey, invented by people who do not know (or disguise the fact that they do know) what they are talking about, and told to people who might know, but forget.

End times, tribulation and the rapture were invented by the Millerites in the USA in the 19th century, apparently based on a special reading of Revelation and more recently a deliberately falsified view of social conditions. Most Christian sects regard the ideas as just wrong, others say they are heresy, and you are quite right about Matthew 26:34.

So both science and religion say the 2012 scare is false.
