2012 – 7 Reasons Why the World Ends on December 21 – 2012

By Gerard Le Flamand

Scientists around the globe agree and are unanimously predicting that “life on Earth as we know it” could end on or around December 21st, 2012. Amongst them, several believe that it will be invoked by humans, but the majority is convinced that nature in a universal way will be the cause of the dramatic changes. Several religious leaders worldwide however are stating that it will be an act of God and that Judgment Day will come upon us at that time. Whichever theory you tend to follow, it is remarkable for once that all visions are on the same wavelength as to the impact on mother Earth. These are seven reasons why scientists and non-fiction predictors are convinced that the world as we know it will end on December 21st, 2012:

Reason #1 – The End of the Mayan Calendar:
The oldest and most researched source of the end was derived from the Mayan Calendar that indicates that times end on this day. The Mayans are considered a highly intelligent race who must have possessed far developed technologies which to date nobody alive can even start to comprehend. They were also a bloodthirsty race and some of their key characteristics involved building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone and sacrificing virgins.
Not only did they live in an era immediately before the previous major global event, about 11,500 years ago, they were able to calculate the lunar moon as 329.53020days, only 34 seconds off.
The Mayan calendar has set the end of the Earth on December 21, 2012. Their prediction is to be taken serious as at that time, the accuracy of calculating the lunar moon so close, the likelihood of their calculation being accurate yet again is extremely high.

Reason #2 – Sun Storms:
The media in general does not like to cover topics that are hard to explain, except for some of the supernatural channels that are rarely visited by the self-claimed “realistic” viewers. However scientists are on the ball when it comes to observing the sun and its activities with the relatively high-tech equipment we know today. And they have made a mesmerizing discovery when it comes to its activities lately. Few years ago, the sun dramatically increased its radiation energy to levels much higher than registered in a long time. Its behavior definitively is cyclic and there is a clear 11+ year recurring cycle. Now, a couple of years after the last serious activity increase, 2012 announces the height of the 11+ years cycle announcing much higher activity than already measured in recent years.
Since the recent storms already accounted for knocking out power grids and destroying satellites, there is a very clear indication that the next round in 2012 will be of previously unseen magnitude impacting our planet and the technology in orbit of it. Calculations suggest it will reach its deadly peak sometime late in 2012.

Reason #3 – The European Atom Smasher:
European Scientists are finalizing the construction of the world’s largest particle accelerator ever conceived. To describe it in simplified terms, it consists of a 27 kilometers tunnel designed to smash atoms together in the anticipation of finding out what makes the Universe tick.
With reason, this mega-project has already caused serious concerns where several renowned scientists have expressed their deep concerns about flipping the ON-switch. Amongst their predictions of all kinds of lethal events, mini black holes are probable to be created. Chances are that the first mega-experiment with this latest invention may turn the globe into a matter no bigger than the size of a basketball.
Oh…that first experiment is scheduled for…2012.

Reason #4 – According to Religion
Several religions are giving us similar indications and predictions based on, amongst others, interpretations of the Bible, the I Ching (also known as the Chinese Book of Changes), as well as various sections within the Hindu teachings. All of them indicate the 21st of December 2012 as the end of the world. The Bible reveals this as the date of the Armageddon or the final battle between good and evil as well as Judgment Day.
It is expected that in the coming time as we approach D-Day, that more religious figures will speak up and lift the secrecy well kept by institutes such as the Vatican.

Reason #5 – Most Powerful Volcano on Earth
The largest volcano on earth is located underneath the Yellowstone National Park in the United States which is famous for its thermal springs and Old Faithful geyser. This fact has gotten geological experts very nervous and the reason for sleepless nights ever since it was linked to the upcoming events in 2012. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting approximately every 650,000. Currently we are many years past the due date for a new major eruption, which in itself is rather bizarre since the cyclic events of the planet are usually pretty accurate and thus predictable. An new explosion will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the Earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. Such a new Ice Age is due when looking at the usual cycles of Earth. And what is most alarming is that the pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang.

Reason #6 – The Physicists
Physicists at Berkeley University in the United States who use super computers to complete their highly complex formulas and calculations have been crunching the numbers and they’ve concluded as well that the Earth is well overdue for a major catastrophic event. Their calculations prove beyond any doubt that if and when this catastrophe happens, it will impact every living being on Earth and basically wipe away entire species as we know them today. What is really scary about their calculations is the fact that they are pretty much convinced, with a certainty of 99% that all of this will come down very soon and that the best guess date is…2012.

Reason #7 – Polar Shift
The magnetic field surrounding Earth shields us from most of the sun’s radiation. This is generally know, yet what is less known is that the magnetic poles we call north and south have a habit of swapping places approximately every 750,000 years. Right the cycle is overdue by about 30,000 years.
Furthermore, scientific research has shown that the poles are drifting apart roughly 20 to 30 kilometers every year, which is much faster than ever before, and which points to a pole-shift being very nearby. During the process of a pole shift, the magnetic field is disrupted until it disappears. Sometimes it is absent for up to 100 years. As a result, there is sufficient UV radiation in the air to crisp your skin in seconds, killing everything it touches.

2012 – The End of Our Civilization? A Gnostic Perspective

2012 – The End of Our Civilization? A Gnostic Perspective
By E. Arda

Recently the topic of the Mayan calendar and the end of a major cycle of time has once again been brought to the fore by some authors and the media.

The year 2012 is specifically mentioned, and many expect that the world, as we know it, will finish in that year.

This subject deserves close attention and study. Let us not forget that the Mayans arrived at a very high degree of civilization some 4000 years ago. Modern scholars have verified that the Mayans’ observations and astronomical calculations are entirely accurate in every respect, with much of their knowledge remaining beyond the scope of modern science.

Many other peoples conceived existence subjected to CYCLES OF TIME. The Aztecs, for example, divided time into different “suns”. Suns that give rise to different humanities: the Children of the First Sun, the Second Sun, and so on.

In old Europe the ancient Greeks divided the history of humanity into cycles of four ages: the Golden Age, the Silver Age, the Bronze Age and the Iron Age. At the end of the Iron Age (the period of greatest materialism and confusion) the Earth is renewed and a new Golden Age begins.

The same basic conception of existence is found in ancient India and its sacred books. Here even the universe itself is subjected to great cycles of time (maha-yugas), lasting for millions of years and enveloping universes, systems of worlds, planets and humanities. Here everything rests on the primary rhythm: the Breathing of Brahma, which gives rise to periods of activity and periods of rest for the whole universe (the cosmic days and nights).

Nowadays we have forgotten that life and time unfold in cycles. Today we think that time unfolds in a straight line. We have a linear conception of time (past, present and future). This is one of the consequences of our moving away from Nature. Don’t we realize that the year itself unfolds in endless cycles of spring, summer, autumn and winter as the Earth completes a revolution around the Sun?

In the Gospels themselves, Jesus clearly mentions the end of the world, not in terms of the end of the planet, but in terms of THE END OF AN AGE, therefore in terms of time. (Greek: TE SYNTELEIA TOU AIONOS). Aionos or Aion meaning “era” or “age”. And he relates it to the selection and renewal of humanity, clearly alluding to a new beginning. See for example gospel of Matthew 13: 40-43).

Now we can ask ourselves: is there a connection between the alleged end of the world in 2012 and the different zodiacal ages: the Age of Pisces, the Age of Aquarius… which follow one after the other until they complete a large cycle of time or Sidereal Year (also called Platonic Year).

Can we disregard the profound study of the zodiacal ages and their influence on the planet earth and humanity?

The sages of antiquity were well aware of them.

There is a book written in 1960 that can enlighten us about all of this, its title is The Message of Aquarius.

In it, its author explains at length everything concerning the end times and the arrival of a new humanity within a new cycle of time.

2012 Doomsday: Fact Or Fiction?

Throughout time, several people have proposed specific dates in which the world as we know it would end. Most of these days have come and gone, but one day in particular still rings out. You see as many have heard of Y2K and other times of assured Armageddon, perhaps the most discussed and consistent date has yet to arrive. December 21, 2012 is the date that so many people in the past have predicted to be the end. So the question must be asked, 2012 Doomsday Fact or Fiction?

The most popular starting point for the predictions of 2012 rests with the ancient Mayan culture. Their elaborate grasp of mathematics and the movement of the parts of the solar system suggest their knowledge was well beyond its time. They designed a calendar that has been on point with various changes and happenings in space.

This same calendar mysteriously ends on December 21, 2012 with no explanation. Some say it is the calendar simply starting over at 1, while others feel as though they ended it to symbolize the end of the world.

In roughly 2900 B. C., the I Ching or Book of Change was also credited with an eerie calculation to December of 2012. This came in the form of a graph created using patterns from the I Ching; Terrance McKenna created the graph itself. This graph’s peaks have so far corresponded to various changes in the world; it too mysteriously stops in 2012.

Yet another source convincing people of impending doom in 2012 is the Web Bot. This software is designed to calculate through discussions and general behavioral trends potential changes in the world. The software was actually developed to assist in predicting the fluctuation of the stock market. Its notoriety began when it predicted to a fair degree of accuracy the events of 9/11. Now, it predicts a worldwide calamity in 2012.

Some scientists believe, that if all the planets were to line up in a straight line, this would create a huge black hole in the middle of the Milky Way. Oh, did I mention that the Mayans predicted such an event on the last day or their calendar? Or that our scientists believe its going to happen in 2012 too?

You can spend hours online looking at everyone’s proof that the world is going to end in 2012. To be fair, there have been hundreds of days that people have sworn was to be the end of the world, and yet here we are. For every argument, someone has a sensible counter point. The Mayan calendar, many believe it to be starting over, and not ending. The Web Bot, while it might have predicted things like 9/11, has been wrong many times.

For every doomsday theory, especially those surrounding 2012, there is an equal argument on either side of the coin. The truth is you need to decide if you believe it to be true or not, and if you do, you should prepare yourself how best you see fit.

News papers, magazines and books printed on paper are obsolete. I can say that because I am a reader. When was 12 years old I set out to read every book in my local library, I was making good headway, but I ran into two problems they kept buying new books and I went away to college. My college library was like reading heaven, at the time it was the largest library for several states. Then came the best part, after college it was no more library for me, it became buy books and bookshelves to keep them. The point is I love to read newspapers, magazines and books but, their time on paper has come and I am sorry to say gone.

The news papers printed on paper are on the same track as say the steam locomotive. It was great for a time, it changed the world, but when it’s time came it went kicking and screaming to the museum like all the other out modes. Today, like most I read my newspapers, a total of five, the New York Times, The Washington Post and three state newspapers without touching a piece of paper. We can save the tree now, it is so obvious that news on printed paper is obsolete. I know the tree cutters, paper mills, printing press manufacturers, pressmen, ink makers, truck drivers, delivery drivers will all have adjustments to make. That is just part of that kicking and screaming on the way to the museum that will never go away.

save the tree

The magazines have been on a downward spiral since the advent of the TV newsmagazine shows like “60 Minutes”, which started in 1968. The industry has been losing its market share for over 40 years, why do we need magazines printed on paper? What are we saving? I know the presses are a better class of machine and the ink is more costly, but, we need to send them all to the museum. The kicking and screaming will be loud but we can save the tree now. The thing is most of them have an electronic version in place.
Books have been available in electronic format for years. I read ebooks on my first Palm Pilot. The industry even attempts to prevent books from being placed in electronic format. This is like the railroads fighting the advent of the passenger airline, why does anyone listen? There are something like a million and a half volumes that are electronic today. The biggest hold back is a format war like the VHS vs Beta or IBM vs everybody but Apple battles of the past. Books will all be electronic, everyone knows it is coming, we can save the tree now.

Just one more example of an out mode that proves my point. A couple years ago I purchased this Palm unit that did everything, ebooks, newspapers, email, calendar, contacts, electronic transfers, it even understands hand writing. Now I have a telephone that is about the same size that does all that plus surf the internet, take pictures, make movies, be a GPS locater and there is no end to what it can do. So why do we need news printed on paper?

The question should be, where to buy a kindle  electronic reader? The future is electronic, just like on “Star Trek”, what I am waiting for is the transporter. I think I will continue this to include more out modes, if you have any good ones leave me a comment here or on my Internet Business Blog.

Incas calendar, do you believe in the 2012 end of the world?

i don't believe in it…
Incas predicted the end of the world on december 21st, 2012 at 11:11.
do you think that there is a chance that the world may end?

i don't think so. people have been predicting the end throughout the century's and as of yet none have been right. also Alto of the predictions made by people like Nostradamus are open to interpretation and generally people see details in his and others texts that aren't there (they see what they want to see).

The Mayan Calendar makes NO doomsday CLAIMS because 2012 is merely the end of a cycle. we are currently approaching the end of the 4th Mayan cycle. That means that Doomsday has happened THREE times before. For the ancient Maya it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle. to render December 21, 2012, as a doomsday or moment of cosmic shifting is a complete fabrication- and a chance for a lot of people to cash in.

People who promote 2012 are doing so to sell books and advertising on their doomsday shows. after each "predicted" doomsday passes with nothing happening there is a new one invented. I have watched the 2012 Doomsday program on the History (Hysteria) Channel. the content isn’t about any real 2012 event happening and it isn’t about history. It is about selling books and selling advertising on the TV programs.

There is no scientific theory that anything unusual is going to happen in 2012. ZERO scientists believe that anything out of the ordinary will happen in 2012. It is all total CRAP. these people are interested in one thing – MONEY. and by listening to their programs and/or buying their books you provide them with – MONEY. the more MONEY they make the more twists and turns they invent to make it more interesting so you will listen to new TV programs so they can make even MORE MONEY.

If you had hogwash to sell wouldn’t you try and package it so looked like prime rib? That is just what these shysters are doing… selling to those who will listen – HOGWASH. Drink deep!!! they need MORE MONEY. they need YOUR MONEY.

By the way… 2012 isn't the first Doomsday prediction. here is a link to other Doomsday predictions from the past and present…

Here: http://www.abhota.info/end6.htm

THERE HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS OF DOOMSDAY PREDICTIONS… and none have come true.

The 2012 Doomsday phenomenon is a hoax. A money making hoax. the profits from perpetuating this absurd myth are astronomical already… survival kits, pro-doomsday websites, advertisement time on the History Channel during their assorted "Armageddon Week" programs have brought in BILLIONS of dollars already, yet the economy is still in turmoil. so, essentially, a lot of wealthy people, drug users, authors with no scientific background, and "alien abductees" have all made a TON OF MONEY off of the people who haven't bothered to actually research this nonsense.

Want a good starting reference point with CITED SOURCES???

See the link below. this widespread panic must end before people start killing themselves for nothing.

Well its been interpreted different ways, one way being the end of the Mayas. well, they overshot it for themselves if that's the case. People have been prophesying the end of the world ever since they've had the chance. Instead of people worrying about the end we should all focus on fixing the present!

1. It's the MAYAN calendar, not the Incan.

2. they did not predict the end of the world.

3. When your calendar reaches December 31, does the world end?

4. the new Mayan calendar cycle will begin on December 22.

5. this is not the last time this question will be asked.

No. It is not true.

People who believe it only believe it because they want it to happen. they believe it because they want it to be true.

Every decade our society comes up with some new way they think the world is going to end. Last time it was Y2K. and what about all the other excuses before that for years to come? Doesn't that say anything to you at all? I don't understand why people are so interested in death and destruction. It is a good thing that the world will go on. and you should tell yourself that.

If it did happen "which its not going to" im just saying that IF it did. then most people would wish for things to go back to the way they used to be after the first two days of people dying from climate change and polar shifts. People wouldn't have wanted it to happen like they thought they wanted. Believe me. we have a lot of crazy people in the world. and like I said. those who believe it only do because they want it to be true.

Go outside and see reality. Do you see this invisible planet x approaching us? It exists. but it is nowhere near our galaxy. If it did pass it wouldn't cause a polar shift. its all a hoax made up by people in order to scare us.
Go outside. Smell the air. Sit down and have a beer. Life is good. I don't want the world to end. and I know deep down you don't either. your life isn't that bad. Face it. Life can be tough but its never tough enough to want to die. lol

If you are religious. then you will know that god said Armageddon will come at the most unexpected time. That means that since we know about 2012. then it won't happen then. God wants us to love each other and our families, friends, and stop spreading stupid hoaxes across the internet. thats what he wants. i hope you understand that its just a hoax. Id hope you know that. Enjoy your life and god bless!

I have been sick of all these "apocalyptic" fortune tellers. they predicted the world will end Jan1,2000 and what do you know, we are still alive. the world can end at any time, even right this very moment. I dont need any Incas to tell me that.

Pretty suspicious them not being around to explain their calender. I'm going to rent a large ballroom here and throw a 12/20/2012 party, it will have to be paid a year in advance, I need time to spend the money and enjoy the time.

for sure i believe it . you better get your affairs in order. oh wait … a.m. or p.m. ?

Incas calendar, do you believe in the 2012 end of the world?

Can Anyone tell me about the Mayan Calendar and their prediction of how the world will end on December 21 2012?

So yea we're doing this thing in Astronomy about the Mayan Calendar and i need ideas about what's going to happen on

DECEMBER 21, 2012……….

any help would be awesome!!

The Mayan calendar does in fact end a cycle on December 21, 2012, but nowhere did the Mayans predict the end of the world.

Scientists don't expect anything out of the ordinary to happen in the year 2012, or specifically on the date December 21, other than the solstice, which happens every year.

None of the "predicted" happenings for 2012 hold up under close scrutiny. "Planet X" and "Nibiru" simply don't exist. The Mayan calendar ends a cycle, but there were no predictions of the end of the world. The Sun doesn't line up with the galactic centre; it's 6 degrees off. No asteroids or comets are actually predicted to hit Earth.

All of this stuff was put together by crackpots in order to promote their books and TV shows, and shamelessly promoted by the History Channel. Don't take any of it seriously!

Actually, the Mayans never said the world would end in 2012.
Their Long Count Calendar ends then – no big deal, our calendars end every year on December 31 and we never worry about it, we just start a new one each year.

The whole "end of the world in 2012" mess began with a number of different "prophecies" from a dozen different, completely unrelated and sometimes contradictory sources, all smushed together by people that either don't understand basic science, or don't care about facts. and then it has been kept alive by people that either enjoy panicking the uneducated or want to get money out of the gullible.

So for facts (not "theories"), do some reading from reliable scientific or scholarly sites on the Long Count Calendar. Since the Mayans didn't leave a written record, you need to read the interpretations from a number of researchers, not just one "translator".

You're doing this in science class? My faith in the educational system hit rock bottom.

The world will not end. All there will be is the winter solstice, which happens every year. Shame on your teacher for incorporating this idiotic doomsday scenario into it!

Also, tell your teacher that the Mayans never predicted the end of the world and that they should branch out from the University of YouTube for their sources of information.

The world didn't end on 01/01/01 or 02/02/02 or 03/03/03 or 04/04/04 or 05/05/05 or 06/06/06 or 07/07/07 or 08/08/08, so I don't think it will happen on 12/12/12 or 12/21/12 either. The marking of time is a man-made phenomenon anyway, and so are the superstitions around dates. It's completely random, so this calendar date means nothing, unless you have an important meeting on that day of course!

I read a book called "The Orion Prophecy" by Patrick Geryl. It's a good book. I recommend it. he says that what is going to happen is that the two poles, the north pole and the south pole are going to switch places all of a sudden, like in a matter of seconds. This happens every 25,000 years or so and the Mayans figured out how to gauge when it will happen by certain things in the sky, certain planets and signs doing things. and this thing is going to happen on Dec. 21, 2012. When the poles shift, the force of it will toss the earth like a frisbee and there will be earthquakes and tidal waves immediately and huge floods everywhere. most of the world will be killed. I am trying to figure out how to cope as this date approaches, particularly on the date itself. because I really kind of believe it and I'm scared. My brother told me to get drunk. I think that's a great idea. But you should read the book. It's very intriguing.

The Mayan calendar that everyone is talking about is a day-count calendar. It was not the common calendar used by the ordinary people (the kind you pin behind the door to the pantry). The common calendar began each year on the day of the Winter Solstice.

The day-count calendar was a calendar that… counted days. It was created by Mayan astronomers to calculate very long intervals for astronomical events. To find the interval (in days) just subtract the two dates. No need to worry about how many days per months or did we forget any leap years.

Modern astronomers use a day-count calendar (for the same reason). It is called the Julian Day calendar. Halloween night 2008 will be day number 2,454,771.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julian_day

The Mayans did not use a base-10 counting system like us, so their numbers look strange to us. But they were very simple for them.

Two things you need to know:
1) Mayan astronomers knew about the precession cycle (as did most ancient astronomers — Greek, Babylonians, Chinese…); precession causes the position of the Winter Solstice to go around the ecliptic in 25,800 years.

2) the round figure 13.0.0.0.0 (when used for dates) was an important round figure (a bit like the start of a year ending with 000 for us).

When the Mayan astronomers set up their calendar, they fixed it so that the round figure 13.0.0.0.0 would fall on their New Year's Day (Winter Solstice), for the year when the position of the Winter Solstice would be in the thickest part of the Milky Way.

This was a relatively easy calculation (almost as easy as, let's say, determining how many days are left until our calendar reaches January 1, 3000).

Mayan astronomers used this day-count calendar whenever they wrote about astronomical events. They describe events that will be seen from Earth well after the year we call 2012.

Obviously, they expected neither the world nor their calendar to end.

Any "prediction" about the end-of-the-world are recent inventions. Some are just meant for 'fun' (people participating in the big 2012 Hoax Off), but some are meant to scare people into buying a book on how to survive the end-of-the-world.

It is a revised version of the book that was published by the same people for the end of the world in 2003…

—-

So, if you are a Mayan, the date we call 2012.12.21 will be the date 13.0.0.0.0 AND it will be New Year's Day AND it will be the beginning of the year during which the position of the Winter Solstice will cross the middle of the Milky Way.

The Sumerians had some knowledge about the solar system and they said that a there was an additional planet which theorists have named Nibiru, and this planet reaches close to the Earth every 2500 years according to the interpreter who researched the Sumerian tablets. The close proximity of this planet could cause some sort of disruption, which could cause more natural disasters. This is all theory of course, but it is one of the theories.

Just in time for 2012!
After decades of conditioning, billions will fall for it.
Will you?

people say either the world is going to end
or that the human race is going to change.

Can Anyone tell me about the Mayan Calendar and their prediction of how the world will end on December 21 2012?

What do you honestly think about the world ending in 2012?

I think its just a load of crap and the end of the world cannot be predicted and where is the scientific evidence of it ending

well…I think science CAN predict something may happen, as it may, but 'the world ending…?'
That's a bit much..

I think based on the current information and stability of the Earth it is unlikely that it will end in 2012. however this does not mean it is impossible and will not happen. for example we may devastate the planet by Nuclear War something that we currently would not expect to happen and god forbid will not happen.

Just a bunch of crackpots trying to scare people and make money from books. When 2012 passes without incident, they'll dream up another date.

I don't believe this 2012 stuff either.

This scam about the world ending in 2012 isn't true. It's all just a silly hoax. it maybe true that that mayan calendar ends but, it doesn't mean the world is going to end. one of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or 7057.5 years. The next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. this is not a prediction of the end of the world. The Mayan Calendar has to end sometime. besides, nobody can't predict when the end of the world is. you shouldn't always believe what you hear from other people. The scientific evidence about 2012 doesn't go together. Those who spread rumors about 2012 should be punished. you know what is sad, people may commit suicide over this thinking its the end of the world. or maybe some people would get unwise with their money and spend it all like crazy and be in thousands of dollars in debt, just because they thought the world would end. Then they have to pay it off later and deal with the stress of those bills. That's why those who spread rumors about 2012 should be punished. you know what else is false about this 2012 garbage?

• Planet X (Nibiru) isn't going to hit the Earth it doesn't exist.
• Poles are switching everyday, this isn't going to happen all in just 1 day. this process takes thousands of years. Throughout geological history there has been may pole switches and life has still survived.
• Also people are saying these poles will switch in one day due to a black hole. That's NOT true. The nearest black hole to our galaxy is 1600 light years away.
• Sun will be lined up with a sunspot, but it doesn't mean it will wipe out all life on Earth. one time ago, Earth was lined up with a sunspot and people were on it and everybody didn't just die.
• There is not going to be catasphoic earthquakes.
• No coment will hit Earth or asteriods.
• these cultures such as the Japanese, Mayans, Japanese or whoever didn't predict such a thing. as I just said, this is just a scam to make money off of ignorant people who don't look at the facts.
• if you have been watching the Hysteria Chanel about 2012 or anything like that, all they are just trying to do is scare people so they can make money.

Each time the end the world is predicted. they are always wrong. Here are all the predictions of when the world would end and each time they where wrong. Every year there is a prediction like this. I'm sure that if 2012 doesn't happen, they will think of something else. through out history the end has been predicted but has never happened. Also, think about this. if the Mayans were able to predict the future, why couldn't they see what would happen to their society in the future?

I can provide even more proof that the world won't end in 2012 if you need me to.

Please look at my links below and read this answer closely, this answer should expect a lot thumbs downers.

just because the mayas calender is about to expired, dosen't mean that the world has to end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…

Hi….wow this subject is spreading like a virus on the internet, i've looked at a heck of a lot research on this subject, so i know as good as anyone what people think will happen, why they think it will happen

Basically the Mayan Long Count Calender ends on 21/12/12, when the calender reaches 13.13.13.13.13.13 (i dont see why it wont just start over again) but when this happens on this date the Mayans wrote that there will be a change of consciousness/ the way we see life, so people have thought the worst and think we are all doomsday.

these scenarios have been pooping up everywhere
1) a galactic realignment, this means that the Sun and the moon and the earth will align with the center of the Galactic core. with this there is suppose to be a unique and strange effect on the way the Magnetic Field is positioned, the change can be a weakening of the Magnetic Field (which deflects solar wind and other harmfully emissions from the Sun) and this will be that the North and South Pole will change in Polarity, with this wakened Magnetic Field there goes our protection from the Sun's Solar Wind.
2) a meteor or Asteroid strike (how the Mayans know that would happen is impossible)
3) a war (world War 3, which spells doom for us all)
4) the eruption of the Yellowstone Supervolcano, which also wont be good for us, with a Volcanic Winter would be on the horizon.
and many many many unlikely scenarios

But in my opinion NO, nothing will happen, maybe they stopped doing the calender to do a new one, or it will just start over again, they never mention a catastrophe, they said a change on how we see life. it is just an immediate reaction to think the worst when faced with a strange event, the only scenarios im taken in by is the Galactic Realignment, because that could be a clockwork scenario

What do you honestly think about the world ending in 2012?

Why do people think the world is going to end in the year 2012?

I don't believe the world is going to end in 2012, but I just want to know why people think so because it really makes no sense. I believe that when God comes the world just might end which could be like 1000 of years from now. :)

just because of the movie. really, if the world were to end just like it did in the movie we'd have known for at least in 2010 i think…. or 2009 , i believe the people knew years before it happened.

There all these people called the Mayans who have predicted many world disasters. their calender ends on the day December 21, 2012. this is why many people believe the world will end.

People belive that because they well.. they base it off a calender made by the mayans that stopped adding days to their calender after the year 2012. Yea pretty stupid assumption.

Maybe the world may end for those certain people.

It's the end of the Mayan calender

where have u been the last 2 years in a cave? one word: mayan!

Why do people think the world is going to end in the year 2012?

2012, BiG WHOOp, we all die.?

i just posted another question on this , a lil while ago,
and im asking questions bc im jw , i aint worried or w..e i could care less, im just living life<3

but umh, why do ppl say were gonna die or the worldwill end in 2012.

like aztecs calendar stops then1?
OH BIG DEAl
like did they get a 'vision' that the worl dwill end.

like why dont we all take a damn space ship to mars or something then come back to earth , like we can't all die !!
like how is the 'world' going to end?!
im so confused ):
hELP .
THANKS<3.

I won't doubt the ancients. We may come a few thousand years after them, but that doesn't mean we're a thousand years more advanced.

In addition to that, they never said "the World will end on December 21, 2012. That's where people let their imaginations run away with each other.

But than a few of the smart humans living on this planet question why the calendar expires on this particular date. Astronomy was clearly the greatest subject for the Aztecs and Mayas (Don't ask how they were so accurate, but they were!)

So by bringing Astronomy into the mix, we look at the stars on that particular date and realized there will be a Galactic Alignment between the Galactic Equator, the sun, and the Earth at Winter Solstice. that could be why the calendar ends on that date… it could be but there's more to it than that. with a civilization so advanced we need to wonder why an alignment would be so important. what does the alignment represent?

The Earth goes through 3 certain cycles. one is so very common that nobody really considers it: It's called a Rotation; 24 hours for the Earth to make one complete spin.
The second is not as common, but humans experience many of these in a lifetime; it's called a revolution; 365.25 days for the Earth to move around the sun.
The third is so rare, most people don't even know what it is. a Precession: it takes somewhere between 25,500 to 26,000 Earth years for the Earth (along with all the other planets and stars in the galaxy) to revolve around and within the Milky way Galaxy.

Our solar system moves only one degree within the galaxy every 72 years. 360 degrees to complete a circle; 360 x 72 = 25,920 years. but since our galaxy is not a complete sphere this calculation would be a few hundred years off. Somehow the Mayas, so advanced in their astronomy, pinpointed a precession to take 25,625.38 years. This is more accurate than modern astronomy.

Many things we apply to the Earth the Mayas applied to the galaxy. Because we consider one Earth rotation to be an Earth Day, the Mayas dubbed one rotation of the galaxy to be a Galactic Day. thanks to them the Galaxy has an equator, along with a Southern and Northern Hemisphere. the Mayas and Aztecs divided a day into 5 sections; Morning, Mid-Day, Afternoon, Late-Night, and Night before Dawn. where it takes a matter of hours for each of these to occur in a day, it take about 5,125 years (Long Count) for each phase to happen in a Galactic Day. 5,125 x 5 = 25,625. the Earth also has two moments of twilight: dawn and dusk. but since this depends on the sun and the galaxy doesn't revolve around anything (that we know of) the Mayas and Aztecs used the Earth.

The Earth (and solar system) doesn't revolve within the galaxy along the equator, but along the ecliptic. There is a 60 degree difference. Therefor twice every precession the Earth will align and pass the galactic equator. that is how these ancient civilizations determined the two moments of twilight in a Galactic Day. for anyone who's done enough research the year 10,500 BC might ring a bell. I call that Galactic Dusk. Guess which of the 5 phases the galaxy is currently in? Night before Dawn. so the alignment scheduled to occur 12/21/12 would be the dawn and start of a new precession.

So before we start celebrating Christmas and 2013 new Years, we can say "happy new Precession" on 2012 Winter Solstice. That's why the calendar ends! This is so rare and we'll all be alive (God willing) to witness it… I just don't think anyone will care… so sad…

The date on the calendars end on that day, not the world. Maybe they bothered to count only up to that year before something happened and they forgot the rest of enternity? anyways why worry about something that MIGHT happen and ruin what is happening to you present. This way you won't be able to live in present if the only thing that occupies your time is what will happen tomorrow. so enjoy each day, for the world could (by the looks international), end up in smoke tonight or day after 2maro. so live now, don't wait for year 2012 predictions to fall flat, in order to start living,.

The possibilities for what will happen if anything on 12-21-2012 are vast… it could symbolize a great disaster as doomsayers say which could be anything from a world ending world war, comet hitting the earth, supervolcano explosion ect ect basically something ending humans time on earth…

However, it may also symbolize a great development in technology or possibly in evolution. Maybe this is when our technology will allow us to take control of evolution through genetic engineering. This is already happening. it is possible through some random mutation that a new species will begin to take the earth or through our own dabbling.

maybe we will undergo a mass evolution of spiritual consciousness and unlock latent psychic or otherwise abilities…

honestly, no one knows, and in all likelihood, itll be just another day… the world is as likely to end, we are as likely to evolve, and the universe is as likely to change on any given day

Apparently form what i heard the earth's polarity will change which it has done several times in the past and when that happens the magnetic field surrounding earth will go away for a bit resulting in south being north and vice versa & without the magnetic field we are vulnerable to the sun's harmful rays.

welll no one can prove theyre right because there's been predictions in the past that have said the world is coming to an end is such and such a year. but it hasn't happened, or else we wouldnt be here. so i wouldn't believe a bit of the mumbo jumbo. :)

Oh my goodness, this question takes up more pages than any other question!
The mayan callender ended on that date, what exactly does that tell us? NOTHING maybe they ran out of rock for all we fricken know. only God knows when it is our time.
Just live your life and be happy, dont worry about this non-sense.

YOU WONT BE SAYING THAT WHEN YOU DIE

2012, BiG WHOOp, we all die.?

Is December 21 2012, end of the world?!?!?!!?!?!?

I'm not talking about the movie….I'm talking about on December 21, 2012 the world is going to end and we are all going to die???? Is it true????? We only have two more years to live?!

No, it's not.

12/21/2012 is the end of the fifth sun and the birth of a new age. the Mayan calendar does not end, it just repeats itself. just like how our calendar repeats itself at the end of December and goes back to January, the Mayan calendar does the same thing. the only difference is that the Mayan calendar only does it every 26,000,000 years or so. So no, it does not mean the world is going to end, it just means that we've approached the last day of a very very long calendar.

Why are people giving me thumbs down? this is a completely legitimate answer. I'm sorry if I'm pissing off the 2012 buffs who want something to be afraid of, but the calendar is a cycle, it repeats itself, the world doesn't end. Go ahead and read up on the Mayan calendar yourselves.

There have been many theories about the world coming to an end and the world was supposed to have ended about 12 times now. from the end of the Aztec Calendar to Nostradamus, to 1999, to 2000, to 6/6/2006, to Pat Robertson, and a bunch more I can't remember. So far, we have survived them all.

As it is said in the Bible, "no man knows the time for the end of the world. only God knows." I learned a long time ago, you can't out guess God.

remember how "they" said we were all going to die in 2000? yeah, that didn't happen. so i say, don't worry about it. but, i don't want to be wrong XD we're basically going to fry or drown in 238902134 years or whatever.

Relax. there is no good reason to believe this. this is just one more day that crackpots have chosen to strike fear into the gullible.

It will happen in 5 billion years;
you'll be dead by then, so don't worry.

NO! its not going to end in 2012, only God knows when the world will end!!… don't believe everything you here!!

Is December 21 2012, end of the world?!?!?!!?!?!?
