Myan calendar vs. aztec?

What do you think was the reason that the myan calendar ends on dec. 21, 2012, and the aztec calendar ends in 2019. why, if you do, believe that it means the end of the world? why can't it just mean that the end of their civilization happened?

it's not so much meaning the end of the world but a ending of an age.

It could mean their calendar maker diedi and didn't teach an aprentice on time. Who knows.

I think they ran out of room for their calendar.

It seems like a veyr thorough website or informations and very factual, but I'm just a litle confused :/

It says the Maya calander claims the world will end December 23, 2012.
And that the Aztec calander says the world will end December 24, 2011.

I thought the Aztecs believed the world will end in 2012 and that the Mayans did too but now I just don't get it.

I was just reading up on this stuff to understand it better rather than just saying "the world is gonna end 2012!!" When I say stuff I want to make sure I'm right (so I read up on it first) rather than just saying stuff I hear from other people.

Megumi is correct. they do not predict the end of the world. People are making money from this and scaring people. It's just another scam.

No, neither Mayas nor Aztecs said the world would end in 2012. Only some recent hoaxers said that, and there is no real basis for it. Calendars do not predict anything.

I've actually read the Popal Vu, which is pretty much the Mayan Bible. nowhere in there does it say anything about the calendar, nor the claims of the world ending.

In truth, when we first discovered the Mayan and Aztec Calendar, which was written on a huge circular tablet, there was a bit of confusion as to how to cipher it. There were many different people that tried to determine the actual end date and many came up with alternate ending. the accepted theory was December 21, 2012. I think they settled on this because of astronomy. It is during this time that there's to be an alignment among the Earth, sun and Galactic Equator. not only that, but this alignment falls on Winter Solstice, which only happens once every 26,000 years.

Nowhere do they claim that this will be the end of the world. However, it is under Mayan Lore that the Earth had been destroyed 4 previous times, leaving us in the 5th sun. each "sun" lasted between 4,500 and 6,000 years, which is the length of the Mayan Long Count.

The actual prediction was that this would be an era of great change; a form of spiritual enlightenment. This corresponds with the transition of Precessional Age from Pisces to Aquarius.

Just as we divide rotation into 24 hours and revolution into 12 months; the third cycle of the Earth (Precession) is divided into 12 ages. each Age lasts approximately 2,150 years, each named after a certain zodiac sign, working in the reverse order of the traditional monthly sun sign. the determining factor of the Age is the constellation the sun rises under on the Vernal Equinox. It takes almost 26,000 years to complete the Precession of 360 degrees.
Depending which source you go by, the change over from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius is 2012.

Take this information for whatever it's worth to you, it could be a coincidence that the Mayan Calendar ends on the transitional period that indicates Spiritual Enlightenment. or you could assume that due to the uncertainty of translation and slow movement of the stars orthodox decided to throw the two together. However, if that were the case I think it would be more pronounced.

The Mayan calendar ran in cycles of (I think) 3000 years; even though the Mayans are no more, their calendar is still running, and the current cycle is calculated to end in 2012. many people think that means that the world will end then.

It's just a calendar, people…

This is the calandar that is supposed to tell us when the end of days is coming. we don't know what will happen, or what time it will happen, we don't even know what day or month it will happen, but we know something will happen in 2012. it could be a major flood, or the ring of fire might erupt, or a comet could come crashing down and kills us all.

Obviously, no one can tell you for sure whether or not the world will end on Dec 21, 2012, but what we do know is that there have been predictions and prophecies from well know historical figures, religions, and cultures for thousands of years.

When it comes to the Mayan 2012 Prediction, is there a specific time that day that the world is going to end?

Will the world end at a certain time like 11:30 or midnight? will it be in the evening or morning? I don't personally believe that anything will happen Dec 21, 2012, but I think it is very interesting.

Isn't it a better idea, to say.
If it happens, and Multiple Emphasis on the IF …lol.
It happens, as supposedly there's nothing anyone can do about.
So WHY, worry about it.
However a lot of the ancient predictions, are dependent on INTERPRETATION, cNostradamus.
So it's probably WRONG, by the same token it MAYBE right.
Either way, if it happens. it happens, and there's nothing you can do about it. SO WHY WORRY ! ! !

ok well just look around and investigate google is a good place or yahoo to start from dec 21 2012 to start is not the end of the world its the begining of a new Era the Era of aquarius so its not the end of the world and the mayas never said it was they just had a better understaing of the cosmos then we have and they where able to map up the costellations and the new year of the ned era starts dec 22 2012 so no its not the end of the world but make sure u watch out for usa and HAARP they can easily end what we know as our world with their little toys

Let'z get one thing straight…. the Mayans never predicted the end of the world on 2012!!! we only have the Mayan calendar itself ending on that date, and people have "ASSumed" they (The Mayans) were trying to tell us the world was going to end at that time!!!

Humans have been predicting the end for thousands of years. As we are here discussing this, all of those predictions have proved to be false.

The world is not going to end, however many humans will suffer. Basically it is the end of our long age that we are in and we are entering a new one. With every new age always had destruction before it started. The age of aquarius is the next age and it starts at any time and no one knows for sure when. there is a planet moving towards our solar system which is called planet x or nibiru. This planet is visible in the south part of our planet with a telescope and will be visible by the naked eye in over a year and in 2011 will look like a moon. The earth is moving into the middle of the milky way galaxy and the storms that will be caused from this event will be drastic. Coastlines are going to have major damage like in the areas of california, new york city, florida, definitly hawaii along with areas like texas and louisiana. earthquakes will come in massive numbers and tsunami's will strike along with hurricanes. Only a very few will survive this as it is not possible to keep most people alive during this and many who do survive this will perish in the upcoming months afterwards. This devistation is going to take decades to clean up and we are just starting a new age. I expect in 2010 the government and NASA who are currently preparing for this event will come out and let the public know that this is true and the population of the world will probably be under 1 billion by 2014.

It will be about five minutes before I get off work.

I have no answer about the time! but I have many questions. its very disconcerting that the Mayan calendar ends this day, that the scientist have determined that this is the day that the earth will be aligned directly in the center of the universe, and that science has said there is a Black Hole in the center of the universe. what are we supposed to think? If they tell the world that these are things we should be worried about, can you imagine the mass hysterics? If it's a real possibility of some kind of cataclysmic event, shouldn't we know? 2012 isn't that far away. what kind of preparation should be done? If its a ridiculous notion then why aren't the astronomers saying so? what would happen to the earth? what would happen to the sun? what would happen to the magnetic pole? would we have a chance to escape? should we prepare like we did for the year 2000? that was a laugh! would we escape by being closer to the equator? OR will we all just be sitting around our Christmas tree 4 days later? I think I will be nervous as that day approaches. I sure hope that i am sitting around a tree (INSIDE) laughing my butt off about how worked up I got over it!

Mayan Calendar World Ending

The latest and fastest growing search term in Google – Mayan Calendar World Ending? And it will only grow in pace as the year 2012 moves closer and closer. you know as well as I do, that a section of our population will always see the next unknown event, be that millennium change, or a comet passing by, or Y2K, as the end of times. the truth is a lot of religions have interpreted an end of times in their fundamental religion and they can not let that go; there has to be an end of times or they are wrong.

Personally I do not subscribe to the idea the creator created us to wipe us out. But then again with 6 billion people on earth we will all have our own ideas. so how do we find the truth? Well science will show us some truths but certainly not all. anything based on faith or belief is simply not truth YET, as the definition of faith is a belief in something not yet proven. as this date approaches take notice that people will proclaim the end of the world is here, and that it is only a belief they have come to believe in based on faith. Faith in their religion for the most part, but most certainly it is only faith in a belief they have chosen to believe.

Now on the other hand, there is some scary science going on at this future date, in December 2012. We all know by now that the Mayan Calendar ends on this date, but that alone is a very subjective statement. the Mayan Calendar does tell an end of times at this time however, but it does not state the end of the world, only an end of times. Well even in my own generation I have seen a few things considered an end of times. In truth, everything eventually ends to spring forward something new.

The scary part however, validated by science is the astronomical events going on exactly as this date arrives. First of all it will coincide with the 11 year cycle of sun spot and solar flair activity. it also coincides with the normal cycle of the sun reversing polar polarity. as an extra bonus, this also aligns with a 21,000 year cycle of our solar system aligning with the center plane of the Milky way Galaxy. the combination of all these events together suggest at the least very extreme solar flare activity around this date.

What can extreme solar flare activity do to the earth? Well at the least it can knock out and kill all orbital satellites that are struck with the solar winds. These solar winds reach the earth in about 8 minutes from an eruption on the sun. no satellites equates to no earthly communication systems, no internet, no cell phones, no television and loss of global power grids aka, no power. this could last for a sustained period of time.

Whats the worst that could happen? Well there is evidence that 21,000 years ago at the time of our last alignment with the center of the Milky way that our moon was scorched by a brief but powerful blast of radiation from the sun. Could that have coincided with scientists estimate that all human forms on earth came from a genetic stock of 2000 people?

The earth has a protection field surrounding it from normal blasts of solar winds. however we have had blasts of solar radiation before that distorted this field and did in fact knock out satellites in orbit back in march of 1996. the solar winds of December 2012 will without a doubt be much more intense than that.

You may have noticed the influences on our earth as this solar alignment gets nearer. the earth has experienced more volcanic activity, more tsunamis, more hurricanes, more tornados than ever before. All this, is of course how the earth responds to increased magnetic and gravitational forces as this alignment moves closer and closer.

Well now I seem like another doomsday liberator and I do not want to do that. I do not believe the end of the world is coming. I do however believe that the physical events of our natural rhythms of nature is going to cause great disruption to our earth and our way of life. We will have to adapt quickly, and preparation before hand seems practical to me given the scientific evidence of what is unfolding.

The Mayans were ahead of their times in many respects, especially with astronomy. We do not know how they gained this information as the catholic church destroyed much of their tablets and records. I do find it very ironic though that the Calendar ends in 2012 when we will face this solar activity. Also ironic is that the Mayan calendar was found on a stone tablet called the Sun Wheel, and has a measurement called the solar cycle.

The consensus among the metaphysic community is that this time will bring in the Aquarian age by destruction of world governments and establishments that have been founded on money and control. Then a new and self empowerment era will begin. If that is the case, I think I could welcome that. But one will have to be prepared to survive on their own without power and communications pretty much indefinitely.
