Does anyone believe in 2012: The World's End Theory? Or anyone want this world to end?

Nothing but I just wanted to know if anyone really wants this world to end. Then there'll be the start of an after life. Whatever. I don't think the world will end but I think the humanity will end after about 35 years.

No, I don't believe it, but people love to capitalize on it and make money off of it…. mostly the religious folk.

If the world ended tomorrow I wouldn't do anything different than what I am doing today, I already live life to the fullest and I'm at peace and "American."

It's usually the religious folks that want it to end because they are miserable themselves – so why wish your miseries on everyone else??? Speaking in general….

i'm a bit curious myself…..i mean NO of course i don't think the world will end on its own in 2012, certainly not cause of some stupid Mayan calendar……BUT there's a damn good chance people will make it end because they think it will, or want it to.

i mean, if i was a delusional Christian/Muslim/Other who thought i was going to heaven with 50 virgins and such, why wouldn't i blow up myself and some abortion clinic or whatever? and what better time to do it than when the world's supposed to end anyway?? i mean whattaya got to lose_?

Don't get me wrong, I don't actually think anything is going to happen when the Mayan Calender ends…but I'm just using my imagination and exploring very unlikely possibilities. Do you think, with what has been happening in Egypt and the Middle East…that by the end of 2012, the world we live in could be totally different? Maybe we'll destroy ourselves…maybe we'll work together and find peace…

Not so much because of the Mayan prophesies, as I understand them, but because God revealed through the prophets Daniel and John the Apostle that things would be a certain way. God let me know what to look for. I'm still waiting for Turkey to erupt like the other nations. I'm not too concerned with Saudi Arabia or any nation in Africa besides Egypt, but more with the nations in the ancient Medo-Persian area.

The bear, leopard, and lion are clues to Daniel 7; images which also appear there. The bear image was about the Medo-Persian Empire. It is where this 10 nation kingdom will form.

So 2012 could be an accurate time, but it's biblical prophecy that I draw from as the source for accuracy.

EDIT: I'm not understanding that we will destroy ourselves, but that it is right on the verge of the great Tribulation.

I think that if something does happen, it will only affect Mexico, southern United States and most of Central America. The Mayans were accurate, but they didn't know about the _entire_ world, only the immediate area.

So if something happens, we Americans are screwed.
That said, I don't believe anything will happen.

2012 is just the end of the Mayan CALENDAR, not the world. There's a difference.

The world is constantly changing. Small revolutions happen all the time and a couple in early 2011 are neither signs that 2012 will be the end of the world not even a "different world."

Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.

Each new Christian denomination seems to worry about the end of the world a bit too much. then after a couple of centuries, they realize that there are always wars and rumors of wars, etc.

I won't even mention the hundreds of false predictions of the end of the world over the centuries, all of which were based on individual interpretations of biblical prophecies.

The first century Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.

The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.

Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

Well as I already live in peace I don't see why I won't rest in peace. however I don't see the world ending in 2012 either.

That is a close year and the year 2000 was the last close year, and it is a question that is beyond me just like the past only happens once because there is a present and the future is a big wave function

Well, theres a lot of prove that 2012 might end. Nostradamus and the Mayans proved it by knowledge and the ancient calender ( if you know numbers they say you can predict the future). the ancient calendar is far more accurate than the one we have today. However, I do not believe 2012 is the end of the world, but I do feel that something catastrophic might happen.

There's a joke among the indigenous peoples that says they just ran out of space when they were making the calendar. the ancients and shaman believe that 2012 is the end of Time as we know it and the beginning of a time of greater peace. we are becoming more conscious. we are shifting energies from one of being Masculine and war-like to one of being Feminine and peace-like. we are making the shift to the other extreme. So it's not about the end of the world, only the end of time as we know it… a shift in energies and the beginning of a new cycle.

The Mayan calendar isn't ending. The 13th Baktun begins on 12-21-2012, but that's only a new cycle.
The "world" (as in planet Earth) can and will survive anything we throw at it. when people talk about the "world" ending, they mean the world of humans. And we are quickly making our only home uninhabitable. But that's got nothing to do with 2012.

All these sources say that the end of the world will be December 21, 2012. the mayan calender ended that day and their are all these "codes" in the bible. Personally, I think its all bull. What do you think?

ahha me and my grandmother were just talking about this yesterday. she told me that if the mayan calander is true that the world isnt going to end but our old ways of life will. we will all find out who we truely are and start listening more to god and we will be in peace with everything and everyone and we will have an understanding of everything. IF the mayan calander is right… member everyone thought our old ways of life were going to end in 2000. and did it? no!

I would believe the mayan calendar before the bible, just because there were so many things edited and lost in translation over the years. the calendar is carved in stone. Frankly, I'm relieved, one way or the other. the human race is killing the planet and eachother over money and power, so maybe we deserve it.

the belief is that the world AS WE KNOW IT will end, but its not in the apocalyptic brutal fashion that we imagine..it doesn't even necessarily mean humans will cease to exist..the prediction is of a dramatic change in human consciousness, not that the entire world will end.

I have a prediction that it cannot be true! all that nonsense can't be possibly true, if it will, get a good bomb shield or something like that.

What a great question. It represents a closing of a grand cycle in time. It, according to many, will usher in mega changes, but I believe this is a good thing. if you do a goolge search on the year 2012, you will find links to all sort of info, positive and negative. Sort through it carefully, and listen to your gut instinct to find out what is true and what is not! Don't be afraid ! There's nothing to fear…

NO.. because in Islam (maybe even in Christianity, not sure) Jesus is to return (he hasnt yet) and fight the evil on earth and bring peace back. He will marry, have children and live for 40years then die a natural death..this is all before the end of the world.. So 2012 is only about 5 years away… thats way too soon if you believe in Jesus' returning…

At the ripe old age of 45 I have lived through Y2k, solar storms and several supposed ends of the world as predicted by Nostradamus and Edgar Cayce.
We are still here, the world still turns, and someone somewhere out there is cranking out a book to sell to gullible people about the next supposed end of the world.

think the mayans got the calender thing from the aztecs because the aztecs beleived that the end of the earth was in 2012 also. here it is.

the aztecs believed that there has been four ages of the earth we are in the fifth), each ending with some terrible event that happened to bring about the creation of some creature. for example, at the end of the second age, a great wind started blowing that blew everything off the earth but two people who survived by holding on to a tree. as a result of hanging on to the tree, they grew tails and became monkeys.

they believe that this age will end with earthquakes on december 22, 2012. so i think that the mayans took this idea and just created a calender to go with it.

As they said above, all it represented was the end of this grand cycle and not necessarily the end of time.

It's far more likely that the guy making the calendar asked "how far do you want me to go?" and someone else said. "how far can you go?" "A couple of thousand years." "That's good. if we need more, we can do it later." "Sounds good to me."

Seriously, the Mayan Calendar is a manmade construct just like the Julian calendar and the Gregorian calendar. God did not make them. The end of the world is not tied to a specific date on any calendar. We'll find out about it just a little bit before it happens if we get any advance warning at all.

The Mayan Long Count calendar isn't ending. It's simply going from the 12th Baktun to the 13th Baktun, much like ours went from 1999 to 2000 amid much hype 6 years ago.
And no, it's not the "end of the world" it's supposed to be a new beginning.
