Mayan Calendar 2012 survey. Who believes it?

I was just wondering about how the Mayan calendar predicted the end of the world in 2012. How many people actually believe it. both sides of the argument make sense. What's your opinion?

I don't believe that the world will end.

I think there will be a major shift in consciousness, the end of a way of thinking…but not the end of the world itself.

The world will not end. you don't need to worry. all that will happen is that our galaxy and every thing inside the galaxy will start over kinda like a year in our solar system just think bigger. Because the galaxy and the solar system spin in a circle. Were simply just starting a new lap in the galaxy.

Well in 1968 they said the same thing 2000 they also did and if 2012 is a skam then 2038 is the next year. Remember if its not in the bible its not true.

Not just the Mayan Calendar but most societies have predicted something big. they all disagree on the exact day. so they all are right and wrong.

I'd believe the Mayan Calendar over the Bible anyday my friend at least the mayan calendar was written during the times the Mayans were there and not 400 years after their deaths like the books in the bible.

Winter solstice- December 21, 2012 – is just the revealing of the 'antichrist' or the 'man of perdition' at the mid-point of what Christians call the 7 year Tribulation (just subtract 1260 days to get the start and add 1260 days to get the end). Well the first thing is don’t be afraid of 12/21/2012, because nothing is going to happen at all. Do you remember the Y2K frenzy? there is however one interesting astronomical phenomenon that will happen on 12/21/2012 when the sun rises on that day, as seen from Central America, it will be in the direction of Sagittarius in the exact center of the galaxy. While the Mayans deserve credit for figuring this out, as well as all the rest of their marvelous astronomy, none of this means their mythology is reality based. in fact they couldn’t even predict their own future of what tomorrow might bring! although, the Mayans were the actually the originators of the 12/21/2012 mythology. they actually believed that the world had also been destroyed four times in the past, each time the earth was rebuilt, and civilization thrived again, now we are up to the fifth world, the Mayan’s believed this one will end on 12/21/2012 Doomsday. This is really no more plausible than the earth ending on (1/1/100, 1/1/1000, 1/1/2000) or any other specially predicted time. many people really thought that the world would come to an end, but we’re still here, and 12/21/2012 will be no different than any other day. The Mayan’s that predicted this have been dead for a long time now, too bad they couldn’t predict their own certain future. why should they be able to predict ours?

Mayan Prophecy 2012: Entering our Galactic Day

Many of us are aware of the Mayan calendar but not many people truly understand what it means and how it works. Yes the calendar does end on December 21, 2012, but what does that mean? How does it come to that? what is their calendar based off of?

The Mayans had a very precise understanding of our solar system's cycles and believed that these cycles coincided with our spiritual and collective consciousness. the most significant of which has much to do with the 2012 prophecies. In the following writing, we will walk through the main details of their prophecies surrounding the 2012 transition. How the transition takes place (from an astronomical perspective), what it means for us, and when the cycles take place. We'll start with the basic prophecies and later move deeper into the explanation of the cycles.

The Mayans prophesied that from 1999 we have 13 years to realize the changes in our conscious attitude to stray from the path of self-destruction and instead move onto a path that opens our consciousness to integrate us with all that exists.

The Mayans knew that our Sun, or Kinich-Ahau, every so often synchronized with the enormous central galaxy. And from this central galaxy received a 'spark' of light which causes the Sun to shine more intensely producing what our scientists call 'solar flares' as well as changes in the Sun's magnetic field. the Mayans say that this happens every 5,125 years. But also that this causes a displacement in the earths rotation, and because of this movement great catastrophes would be produced.

The Mayans believed the universal processes, like the 'breathing' of the galaxy, are cycles that never change. what changes is the consciousness of man that passes through it. Always in a process toward more perfection. Based on their observations, the Mayans predicted that from the initial date of the start of their civilization, 4 Ahau, 8 Cumku which is 3113 B.C., after one cycle being completed 5,125 years in their future, December 21st, 2012. the Sun, having received a powerful ray of synchronizing light from the center of the galaxy, would change its polarity which would produce a great cosmic event that would propel human kind to be ready to cross into a new era, the Golden Age. It is after this, that the Mayans say we will be ready to go through the door that was left by them, transforming our civilization based on fear to a vibration much higher in harmony.

Only from our individual efforts could we avoid the path to great cataclysm that our planet will suffer to start a new era, the sixth cycle of the Sun. the Mayan civilization was in the fifth cycle of the Sun, and there were four other great civilizations before them that were destroyed by great natural disasters. They believed that each cycle was just one stage in the collective consciousness of humanity.

Nothing will happen. the Mayans didn't "predict" anything. It's just the end of a calendar cycle, and the next day the cycle starts over again.

The Mayan calendar is remarkably accurate, especially since it was designed by a civilization that lived far before the Greeks, Romans, or even Egyptians started recording time. Their calendar ends in 2012. the Mayans also drew a picture of the solar system thousands of years before the rest of the world knew the earth was round. Their solar system had a 10th planet. Some scientist call this planet X. it is supposed to orbit every 3600 years bringing devastation and possibly an end to our civilization. What do you think?
