Seriously, I used to think about this, now I don't care about it, what happens happens, no changing it anyway. but seriously, does any one else notice how none of the people who believe in 2012 are mayan, they're all american! they say 2012 will be a time of great change, if you ask me it may be the extinction of those who believe in everything they hear, who most likely will have commited suicide by 12/20/2012.

I am 61 now. This is perhaps the 20th end of the world that I have been through.

I will tell you exactly what to expect. The morning after the end of the world, the sun will come up the birds will start chirping people will get out of their beds an get ready for work. Moms will hug their Kids and everything will pretty much be like it was the day before the end of the world.

Only one thing will be different. All of the people who were talking about it as though it was real will be saying that they knew that it was not really going to happen.

The day after that there will be a new date for the end of the world predicted, and those same people will be talking about how it is real.

It's wishful thinking on the part of some people who just want the easy way out.
The world will end one day either through something we do or via natural forces such as the sun going supernova. in the meantime, it would be best to treat any and all of those end-of-the-world predictions with the skepticism they deserve, because any prediction like this will likely be just as useless as the thousands of previous predictions that did not come true.
It's actually a harmful speculation. if you make a list of the benefits of knowing the world will end tomorrow compared to the possible devastating reactions people would have if they knew the world was going to end tomorrow, you will see what I mean.
By the way: every single generation for over 2000 years has thought "we will see the end of the world/ rapture/ judgment day/etc." Does that give you a hint about the situation? It should.

No. Listen to what people say about the ozone layer. thats whats keeping to world alive. there is a whole in the ozone layer and if that goes completely we will al burn to death in a huge world wide torching fire. but it will be a slow death and by the time the fire hits we will all be fried from the sun. the ozone layer protects us from the radiation from the sun that is unbarable to humans. Protect against global warming and spread the word about just how important it is we take action and keep the ozone layer healthy. we dont need to be at fault for the end of the world. if we continue the way we are this will happen inless than 50 years. seems far away but compare that to the billions of years the worlds been healthy. billions or 50. hmm… i say we make a change.

The ozone layer would not be going this fast if it werent for us. sure sun radiation damages it but it wouldnt place a whole in it. the whole is from our carlessness and every persn counts. people think well just me changing wont do anything but guess what ever just me person ut there makes up millions and that does make a difference.

so i was bored the other day and i was looking up this website on the mayan people and they made this accurate calander thousands of years ago and it was accurate to what we have today they were really smart they knew alot about the sun and the stars ,etc they would even predict major events that have happened …so there calander ends in 12-21-2012 they say thats when the earth will be destroyed by earthquakes or something with the sun and sunspots or somekind of natural disaster this is one example website http://www.greatdreams.com/2012.htm or google mayan 2012 prediction there are many different sites ….so should we be worried???? im freakin out thats only 4 years away..what do you think?

Just like the year is the end of one of our cycles (orbit around the sun.

Since their calander is actually quite accurate on different astonomical cycles, I do wonder what this is the completion of?
A galactic rotation? Methinks they knew a bit more than most other 'primitive' people when it comes to astronomy. (NOT astrology or other forms of soothsaying).

The problem with the Mayan civilization is that it doesn't exist anymore. there are no people who can accurately tell the stories the Mayans predicted. Also, the Mayans were slaughtered by a Spanish conquerer, so it is likely that they were unable to make a calendar for the year 2013.

I don't think it's anything to worry about. if the world ends, then the world ends. No drama. It's not like you'll be around to worry about it… you'll be gone to. you get to enjoy the next world or whatever your belief is. if it doesn't, go and eat a big block of chocolate and enjoy the rest of your life. I think maybe the mayans just got lazy or forgot to finish their calendar.

Nah i don't think we all will be dead in 2012. What the mayans say is that there is a time of change coming. People freak out because we are naturally afraid of what's different. I'm not talking about the movie….I'm talking about on December 21, 2012 the world is going to end and we are all going to die???? Is it true????? We only have two more years to live?!

No, it's not.

12/21/2012 is the end of the fifth sun and the birth of a new age. the Mayan calendar does not end, it just repeats itself. just like how our calendar repeats itself at the end of December and goes back to January, the Mayan calendar does the same thing. the only difference is that the Mayan calendar only does it every 26,000,000 years or so. So no, it does not mean the world is going to end, it just means that we've approached the last day of a very very long calendar.

Why are people giving me thumbs down? this is a completely legitimate answer. I'm sorry if I'm pissing off the 2012 buffs who want something to be afraid of, but the calendar is a cycle, it repeats itself, the world doesn't end. Go ahead and read up on the Mayan calendar yourselves.

There have been many theories about the world coming to an end and the world was supposed to have ended about 12 times now. from the end of the Aztec Calendar to Nostradamus, to 1999, to 2000, to 6/6/2006, to Pat Robertson, and a bunch more I can't remember. So far, we have survived them all.

As it is said in the Bible, "no man knows the time for the end of the world. only God knows." I learned a long time ago, you can't out guess God.

Did the Aztecs know from their ancient records that the sun destroys our planet every 13,000 year cycles when the sun becomes first quiet in it's solar activity for a few years, and then rebounds with solar flares so huge that they incinerate our planet, and the next such 13,000 year cycle comes in 2012?

the Mayan calender thing that ends on 12/20/2012 is nothing to run around saying the world is going to end. i looked it up the thing is is that it starts over on that day but ppl went crazy and misinterpreted and said that is the day the world is going to end so its not the end of the world. so we are going to continue to live.

The Mayan calendar is merely the tip of the iceberg. Scientists know that the earth’s magnetic poles are reversing. the reversal will be completed on 12/21/2012. Pole reversals have occurred before on earth without much fanfare. This time it’s different. That’s because the poles of the sun are also reversing at the same rate and will be completed on the very same date.

Some scientists believe nothing will happen. others are convinced the results will be catastrophic. What’s interesting is that their predictions mirror the judgments outlined in Revelation 6.

As bad as it may get, it won’t be the end. the tribulation period, which immediately precedes the second coming of Jesus is seven years long. But if the predicted catastrophes are those prophesied in Revelation 6, it could very well be the beginning of the tribulation period.

I am a Christian and no I don't believe in no calender or predictions done by any person even the famous Nostradamus. In the bible it says it very clear NO ONE knows only GOD know. we should worry more about how we are going to present our selves in front of our creator and savior and not when its the world coming to an end. no matter how much we worry about tomorrow we can not do anything about it. Lets worry about today…am I been a good Christian or person? am I loving others like I love myself? am I Loving GOD OVER EVERYTHING and ANYTHING? am I following Jesus lifestyle meaning LOVE STYLE? those should be our questions in our head and not its the word ending tomorrow?

The Mayans used several different calenders of different lengths for various purposes. they believed that time was cyclic. just like our calenders, It just starts the whole cycle over again. In 2012 all of the different calenders will end and begin on the same days. they believed that it was a time of great potential, they didn't believe that space aliens would come and blast us to dust. Once again, the Mayans did not make a prophesy, they did not predict the end of the world or the change or the world and their calendar does not end in 2012. It's all a hoax. a guy who was hiking in the Andes while smoking herbs talked to the "spirits" and got that information. It has no base in reality at all. People keep trying to explain why the prophesy won't fall in and how the end of an calendar is not the end of the world, but they fail to understand that that has no importance at all. they accept the hoax as real even when they try to prove that it's false. Why not tell it as it is?

The herb smoking guy is making a lot of money on this. a lot, and he has been making money on it since 1994. (He's a musician not a scientist by the way.) This is what's behind it all. Herbs and money and I think all of it stinks.

2000 was not the end of the world. It was just a computer problem with PC's adjusting to the date changing to 00. It was an easy fix with a simple free download.

I do believe that things will change drastically and that millions of people will die.

that the end Times will be upon us when, "the Sun will rise from the West instead of the East".

There are 2 ways of this happening. the first being, geomagnetic reversal (if the magnetic poles switched places). the other is if the earth stopped spinning and began spinning in the opposite direction.

The 1st way (G.R.) Through analysis of palaeomagnetic data, it is now known that the field has reversed its orientation tens of thousands of times since its formation very early on in earth history, with the last reversal was the Brunhes–Matuyama reversal approximately 780,000 years ago.

Investigating reversing the earths spin rotation could happen only if the Earth's axis points switched places by spinning 180 degrees, or the earth somehow stops its rotation and begins spinning the other direction. the chances of the latter being impossible without an external force big enough to induce the halting and re spinning of the earth.

Since geomagnetic reversal has happened before, doesn't that negate the Islamic end Time prediction.

I have heard several people asking if people think the world is going to end in 2012. why is this? where did they get this notion?

December 21, 2012 is the end of the Mayan Calendar.

This date has become open season for conspiracy theorists as well, and some have determined it is also the biblically prophesied end of the world. I think it comes from people who are extremely bored with their empty, lonely lives. They make up crap like this every once in a while to try to get some attention. I have heard this 2012 stuff so many times, and laugh at it. See you in 2013!!

A very mistaken interpretation of the Mayan calender by people who want to promote an "end of the world" panic.

Lack of brain power.

The world can't end in 2012 – it ended at 12:01 AM January 1, 2000! Oh, no, wait, that wasn't the "real millenium", the world ended 12:01AM January 1, 2001. Oh, wait, I've got it – the world ended on 06/06/06. Or was it 07/07/07? See people attach significance to all sorts of random #s – the end of the world has been predicted since it began. but if we can't accurately predict something as (relatively) minor as an attack or natural disaster, how on earth would anyone come up with a definitive date for the end of the world?

Well I believe there is more than one source for this belief but the one I can recall specifically is Mayan oracle prophecy.
You should read Finger Prints of the Gods it is crazy the things they tried to do to change the course they believed the planet was on.
