I heard that on december 21st of 2012 the world is going to end. Is this true? Who made this prediction? What is it based on? It kind of scares me a bit. also wasn't there a supposable prediction of the world ending in just the past few years and nothing happened? Was it predicted by the same person?

Nostradamus never knew the mayas and he predicted the end of the world at the same time, dec 21st, 2012. He also predicted the 9 11.
There are many predictions on it such as global warming, the linement of all planets in a solar system and meteor chances of destroying this planet.
Now im not very big on science. You can do research on yourself around the internet instead of believing what people tell you. I myself would love to keep living beyond 2012. But if it is truly the end, then i guess we have nothing to do about it. just live your day to the fullest because death can come anytime to anybody.
pretty well the same odds of it happening in five minutes from now or five centuries from now, or what it was yesterday before yesterday happened. Extremely unlikely.
That whole 2012 thing is an internet scam, somebody playing a joke even if many people think it is serious. it isn't. There is absolutely no basis for the idea. It is a load of hooey. do not worry. You are far far more likely to be struck by lightening or hit by a car or crash in an airplane, or even to get hit by a crashing airplane while sitting in your living room watching tv. even getting hit by a meteor is way way more likely, and that essentially never happens.
Some things in life are worth worrying about, and others aren't. 2012 end of the world is NOT one of the things that needs to be worried about.
Slim to none. as Richard said, the same as tomorrow. Remember when the world was supposed to end in 2000? then in 6/6/06? The Mayan calendar ends then, and they new absolutely nothing about space relative to us (they knew some things, but we know about ten thousand times as much). The Earth will end in a couple billion years for sure when the sun sheds its outer layers, incinerating the Earth, and there's a one-in-several-trillion chance that the large asteroid Apophus will hit a very tiny gravity well in a couple of years that will cause it to hit the Earth in 2036.

theres no chance the world is going to end in 2012, and i am not saying it wont, but not in 2012. because our distance from the sun changes every four years. and do you guys remember when they said the world was going to end in like 2008 or something? so yea anyways every four years the distance changes so our cellphone, internet etc signals will change for a short time. soo dont worry about it

Nancy claims that aliens are talking to her. People say that the Mayan calendar has reached the end of it's long count. I.E, the calendar ends on Dec 21 2012.
Yes there was a prediction. in Y2K and 2003.
2003 was "predicted" by the same erson, Nancy Lieder. She said that she was just wanting to fool the establishment and see how they would react.
Ok, now no need to panic.
1. The Mayan calendar ends on that date. It doesn't mean End of the world, it simply means, it'll start from the beginning again. Like our calendars.
2. Nancy Lieder said that aliens are talking to her. But thing is, she's fooled us all once, remember the 2003 thing? Are we gonna trust her again? And she and other people do this kind of thing to earn quick bucks.
Like authors wrote books like "true facts of 2012" or "2012 survival guide", it's cos everyone is currently freaking out and want to learn how to survive and etc. So the authors get rich quick.
Same goes for History Channel.
3. Some websites say "Scientists prove that world is going to end on 21 December." But which scientist? they did not state.
Some even claim that "NASA has all the info about this 2012 world gonna end thing." But they didn't give the link, and when people searched the NASA website for the news, there's none.
4. Nibiru is fake. Imaginary planet. And the photographs are photoshopped.

I truly do not believe the world is going to end in 2012… I have a few reasons why I believe this…
First NO man knows when the world will come to an end! No matter how smart, how popular, how religious, or how crazy they are!!
I know this because of these few verses…
1 Thessalonians 5:2
‘For you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.’
2Peter 3:10
‘But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.’
Revelation 16:15
“Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed.”
I don’t know about you, but normally people don’t know when a thief is coming… What will normally happen is, the thief will steal something small and you will never know he was even in your house; You could wake up the next day and find everything missing; or you wake up in the middle of the night by “surprise” and find out that someone is in your house taking things…
The point I’m trying to make is when the world ends, and Jesus comes back for the final time, is going to be a complete surprise to EVERYONE! I also believe this because…

These verses clearly state that not one man, and not one angel, knows when the world is going to end! Jesus doesn’t even know when he’s going to come back for his second and final time! But it’s all in the Fathers timing, (which is perfect by the way). Isn’t that crazy!!
Now don’t just take my word on this though… you should look up these verses on your own, and check them out for yourself, See what you come up with.
Also if you want to know how the world is REALLY going to end, read the book of Revelation, it will tell you in pretty good explanation how the world is going to really end!
